PARAÍSO returns to Braga for another edition dedicated to celebrating Afro-descendant and Lusophone artistic expressions, this time with a special focus on the year marking the 50th anniversary of the independence of Portuguese-speaking African countries.

This year, we propose three programming axes — Art, Thought and Mediation — which give shape to a festival where we listen and think from the margins, from the archives and from the voices that continue to elevate Afro-descendants today.

Thinking of the Afro-descendant artistic universe as a territory in expansion and transformation, PARAÍSO asserts itself as a place to celebrate contemporary creation that is born at the crossroads between past, present and future.

Braga bids farewell to an intense year in which it opened the door to the Portuguese Capital of Culture with the promise of not letting it close. The show that officially marks the end of Braga 25 is not a closing ceremony, but a moment to celebrate a journey that will continue to leave a legacy in the city. It will also be a moment to pass the baton to Ponta Delgada, the next city to receive the title of Portuguese Capital of Culture, awarded by the Portuguese Government. On the stage of the Theatro Circo, artists from both cities will engage in dialogue, combining the rich traditions of Minho and the Azores with the contemporary languages explored in both territories, in a celebration of national creativity that promises to continue to leave a lasting impression on an unforgettable year.

The show is directed and musically produced by Hélder Costa.
Seara symbolises fertile ground where Portuguese music germinates and transforms. Each musician brings their own identity and background, composing a collective body that blends tradition, innovation and artistic dialogue, for a celebration of co-creation. The repertoire combines original works and unpublished arrangements, born from the coexistence of musical languages rooted in our culture and open to the world. A soundscape where voices, instruments and ideas intertwine in a unique concert that honours the past and sows the future of Portuguese music.
